Hello you!
it seems like you found my blog. However you did that, thank you.
Let me introduce myself real quick.
My name is Alex, I am located near munich, but my origin is Switzerland. I am in my mid 30s and do IT stuff since my training starting 2006. Currently I am working in the financial industry at a bank which does B2B-stuff for companies without a license as a bank and - obviously - stock exchange trading.
As you probably already suspected based on the URL of this blog, I mainly do storage stuff, which includes that I sometimes add the rage in Storage.
My first contact with enterprise storage was 2012 where i was thrown into this after my collegue failed overnight because of a health issue. Since then, I am hooked into this until today. The only changed are the Vendors, except NetApp, they accompany me since then.
I had a few steps in my career which includes operations and working for a Star-Rated Partner from NetApp, where I worked before my current position and left because of my personal health, which was challenged very heavy and I am still working on it.
So, lets talk about storage here and now, especially as a financial company, my Job ist heavily driven by regulatories such as the Bafin, DORA, and others.
On one hand, this gives us some kind of a road, on which we have to drive and do not reinvent the wheel for everything.
On the other side, there are many many things which I hate. Not because somebody tells me what to do, it's more like the fact that we have to do something, which others had defined but never need to work with and they don't know (or worse, don't care) what impact this has.
People who know me know that I am a very sarcastic and ironic guy, but you can count on me when it matters. Yes, I do work in the infrastructure, but no, that does not mean I like working in a data center. I did that in the past years more then enough, but I will never let my co-workers hang when they need 2 helping hands.
People who know me also know that I swear - sometimes a lot and now and then I yell and want to burn down things. Or people. Or offices. Or all of them. That's how I work, and people basically like it - some people more than others.
To be honest, often I dont give a fuck what other people think about me, but I am also a person who does not care about a position from my co-workers. You have a question about my work? You need a helping hand because it's 7 o'clock in the morning and nobody else is in the office? You just need somebody to talk even I already on a leave? Fine for me, regardless if you are a trainee, the cleaning team or the CEO - just act like a human and don't act like a asshole just because you are in a higher position then me.
What you can except here on this blog are posts about my challenges in my daily work, some ideas which I want to share or maybe just because somebody who reads this asks for clarification about a topic which I can cover.
Since I write this in my spare time, do not expect regulary posts as your subscribed youtube channels, so feel free to add my blog to your favorite RSS-reader, the URL is: https://raid-and-rage.blog/rss.xml.
Cheers!
